What is Spiritual Faith?

First, What Faith is Not

Faith is not relentless praying and meditating until wishes come true. **Faith is not the practice of good behavior with hopes of a better life here or after**Faith is not the practice of customs, traditions or rituals ** Faith is not precondition behaviors for rewards, faith is not tithes**faith is not hate or intolerance**faith is not God is “On our Side,” ** faith is not a pastor, minister, pope, bishop, palm reader or fortune teller ** faith is not specific behaviors practiced on certain days ** faith is not men-only to being preachers ** faith is not believing all who disagree with your faith should burn in hell ** faith is not heterosexual nor homosexual preference ** faith is not race, creed or color ** faith is not religious clothing ** faith is not chants, mantras, or The Lord’s pray ** Faith is not the Bible, Koran, or any other book, who claims it’s a book of faith ** Faith is not being right ** faith is not a great spiritual orator ** faith is not a mega-church or a small cozy one ** faith is not an act of miracles ** faith is not the Virgin Mary ** a picture of a crying Jesus ** or a bright light witnessed in near death situations ** Faith is not things working out for you ** faith is not converting followers to your faith ** faith is not abstinence ** faith is not abstaining from pre-martial sex, alcohol, booze or drugs, ** and faith is not the sole ownership of those who believes their faith is stronger than others.

What is Faith?

Faith is nothing. Faith is thoughtless, faith is silence, faith is stillness, faith is inner-spirit, faith is self-harmony, faith is non-judgmental, faith is egoless, faith is love of all and abandonment of none, faith is guiding one’s own life, faith is change, faith is spiritual balance, faith is self-discovery, faith is self-honesty, faith is patience, faith is self-awareness, faith is desire-less, faith is non-expectations, faith is inner-growth, faith is inclusion…Faith is saying, I’m sorry…Faith is accepting I’m sorry…Faith is forgiveness…Faith is love… Faith is blind….

meditation2Meditating or meditation can best be described as a journey into mindlessness. Hmm? When I began studying Taoism, my knowledge of Eastern philosophy came from superstitions, anti-philosophy arguments e.g.  As a young boy I watched on Television this white guy playing a Chinese Kung Fu fighter and he would talk with a spiritual Master. The Master seem to stay in this meditating state of some sort.

The fighter would be perplexed and the Master would give lesson possibly from Tao or Confucian on taking action.  Consequently, Kung Fu would “Whoop someones’ Ass,”  American television, can’t beat it. That was my extent of Eastern philosophy growing up, shallow but yet real. The philosophy of least resistance lost on the fighting of Kung Fu.

What is Meditation?

mindReconditioning ones’ mind has to be atop the hardest feat known. Your mind creates a almost impenetrable casing around perceptions you have complied over the years. Those recorded perceptions run on a continuous loop, talking to you constantly. They define your fears, desires and life as a whole to you unknowingly. The created entity, I’ll call it Ego, some may say Satan, or Boogeyman, masters your life.

If you’re walking, its talking to you, if you listening, its talking to you, if you’re sleep, it wakes you up to talk to you. It makes all your decisions. Relentless. Something you created controls your thoughts and actions.  Left unchecked this mind destroys your spirit.  Meditation helps to slow down and eventually rid yourself of this beast. Our unchecked mind plays havoc on us, we’re afraid, we’re unsatisfied, can’t get right. The Ego’s main concern is not your happiness. Its main concern? Your destruction. Yes your  destruction.  Ego takes care of Ego. You’re left on your own, buddy when its through with you.

This entity destroy you because it controls your thoughts which in turn controls your actions.  Actions of selfishness, greed, hate, intolerance all come from egotistic thoughts.   You’ll stay in a chronic state of depression, unhappiness and loneliness only interrupted with brief moments of satisfaction from a external stimuli.  With ego your mind will always be control from something outside of you. Meditation will help you listen and witness your thoughts, slow them down and eventually halt the continuous loop. Which will create a higher consciousness suitable for a relationship with God.

Did you know God can’t share space with anything else?  Why? Because God has no opposite. You created the opposite of God, your Ego or Satan if you like. The divided mind is your conqueror. You listen and follow its directions straight to unhappiness.  It never satisfies you.  Get your mind back!  Noise of the egotistical mind can’t listen to language of God, which is silence. To reach spirituality of bliss the mind must be conditioned to listen. If you knew God, you wouldn’t talk, if you talk, you know not God.

Invisible Dragon’s Techniques of Meditation.

yin-yang3I’m an expert on my life, that’s it. My form of meditating has come from trials with different recommendations. I’m not one to follow and I never lead. Dr. Wayne Dyer was my first encounter with the art of Meditating. After reading, “Change your Thoughts-Change your Life,” I began to delve into meditating. My mind has always been the Super Bowl, World Series, Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus wrapped up in one. For years I possessed an egotistical mind, a continuous loop of playbacks influenced one foolish decisions after another.

Suffering with chronic depression for twenty plus years, I experimented with meditation for support. My technique consist of sitting in my office chair with lit candle and sitting silently for about 30 minutes starting at 6:15am. This technique is being constantly practiced and altered. In practicing Taoism its truly supportive of finding my own way.

Meditating helps me to slow my thoughts so I can recondition my mind for communion with Tao. Undoing my earthly mind so it can be reconnected with the creator. Only with path clear can divine self manifest here on earth. In beginning, I tried to stop my mind from sending thoughts through.  It did not work, consequently, my ego took over, disappointment crept in and this became frustrating. Taoism teaches path of least resistance, and this I called on. Instead of saying “Damn,” I began to accept having a busy mind.

“No Invite, No Reject.” This mean I don’t invite thoughts in but if they come I don’t reject and fight them. Its working for me. If you resist anything, it will persist. Accepting unwanted thoughts probably the best advice I could give. The unwanted thoughts will lessen over time for you, as they have for me.

  1. Quiet place.
  2. Lit candle.
  3. Don’t fight thoughts, let them come let them go.
  4. Breath slowly.
  5. Meditate for stillness of mind.
  6. Expecting no results, you’ll be set free one day.

I love walking on my own, and I loved supporting those walking on their own. Its not comfortable at times developing spirituality, its hard as Hell, but rewarding.  A certain meditation technique I can’t recommend, one size doesn’t fit all. Even the practice of my Tao remains personal, no confirmation needed from others. I hope this short narrative support your journey into whatever spirituality works best for you.
